Levani Chitiashvili graduated from Georgian State Agriculture University of Georgia Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 with the qualification of Veterinary of General Profile. Since 2007 he is a vivarium specialist at National Center for Disease Control and Public Health. He passed trainings in biosafety and biological defence. In 2015 L. Chitiashvili completed a training course “Laboratory animal science: an internatonal perspective” organized by Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the US Center for Disease Control, and the Georgian National Center for Disease Control.

Nona Lomtadze currently is the vivarium chief specialist at Laboratory of Ministry of Agriculture (LMA). She graduated from Zootechnical-Veterinary Institute of Georgia in 1997with the qualification of Veterinary of General Profile. In 1998-2006 she worked on a chief specialist’s position in the Department of the Quality Control and Serological Survey at the Georgian Center for Veterinary Expertise and Diagnosis. Since 2006 N. Lomtadze works at LMA. In 2015 she passed Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Ministry of Public Health and the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) organized training "Laboratory animal sciences: an International Perspective

DVM Mtvarisa Kordzaia is a senior research scientist at Tbilisi State University Al. Natishvili Institute of Morphology. She graduated from Zootechnical-Veterinary Institute of Georgia in 1991 with the qualification of Veterinary of General Profile and defended her thesis in 2001. In 1992-2010 M.Kordzaia worked at Zootechnical-Veterinary Institute of Georgia, Georgian Agricultural University leading courses in anatomy and morphology. Since 2010 Dr. Kordzaia works at Tbilisi State University Al. Natishvili Institute of Morphology. In 2015 she graduated a 3-month course entitled “Laboratory animal science: an internatonal perspective” at NCDC. Dr. Kordzaia is an author of 35 scientific publications. |

Dr. Levan Tsitskishvili, DVM, PhD is a Senior Scientist at the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental biomedicine and supervises the animal nursery division. Dr. Tsitskishvili holds a PhD in Biological Sciences and professional doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine. He has more than 20 years of experience investigating the effect of environmental factors on animal and human health. He has studied the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases and identified high risk zones for the distribution of select diseases in Georgia.Dr Tsitskishvili has participated in several projects funded by the ISTC and FAO. He has published more than 40 scientific works in Georgian and international journals. Furthermore, these works are actively used to develop disease control programs in the Caucasus region (Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan). Dr. L.Tsitskishvili is also a founder and vice-president of the International Veterinary Association “Veterinarians Sans Frontiers - Caucasus”.

Vazha Chitiashvili currently is a specialist at Georgian National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Department of Biosafety & Extremely Dangerous Pathogens. He graduated from Zootechnical-Veterinary Institute of Georgia Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1980 with the qualification of Veterinary of General Profile. In 1981-1996 he worked as zoologist and Head of the vivarium at the Anti-Plague Station of Georgia and 1994-2006 was a Head of the vivarium at the NCDC. He passed trainings in biosafety and biological defence. In 2015 V. Chitiashvili completed a training course “Laboratory animal science: an internatonal perspective” organized by Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the US Center for Disease Control, and the Georgian National Center for Disease Control. |

Marine Ramishvili graduated from the Georgian Agricultural University with master’s degree in veterinary medicine in 2007. Since 2009 she has been working as a bacteriologist at the laboratory of Especially Dangerous Pathogens at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health/Lugar Center. Currently M.Ramishvili is a PhD student at the Georgian Agricultural Universityin the field of microbiology, virology, epizootology, micology, immunology, parasitology and is working on brucellosis thesis. She has also completed a two-year regional program for the countries of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia: ,,The South Caucasus Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program’’ (SC/FELTP). M.Ramishvili has participated in several projects funded by CRDF Global/GRDF and now is also participating in one of them, has published more than 15 scientific articles in different Georgian and International journals and is author and co-author of 12 presentations at international scientific conferences and co-author of two books and two brochures.

Gulnaz Gasimova is a vivarium specialist at Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry. She graduated from the People University at Red Cross Tbilisi Branch in 1978 with BS degree in Public Health. In 2015 G.Gasimova completed a training course “Laboratory animal science: an internatonal perspective” organized by Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the US Center for Disease Control, and the Georgian National Center for Disease Control. |

Dr. Levani Metreveli is a senior research scientist at Tbilisi State University Al. Natishvili Institute of morphology. He graduated from Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 1976 with MS in Biology and obtained his PhD in Anatomy in 1986. Since 1977 Dr. Metreveli works in the area of experimental medicine. He is the author of about 80 scientific publications and presentations, including one monograph. In 2015 L. Metreveli graduated a 3-month course entitled “Laboratory animal science: an internatonal perspective” at NCDC. |
Brett J. Taylor graduated from Louisiana State University in 2001 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and completed a three-year residency in laboratory animal medicine in 2010. He is a member of the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM) and a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM). He is currently stationed in Georgia to assist in the further development of biomedical research in this country. |
